Guest post: KTJ

Hello lovelies! Today I have a wonderful guest poster for you! She is so wonderful! Take it away KTJ...

Hi everyone! I'm Katie and I blog over at KTJ Weighing In! I'm so excited to be guest posting for Rebekah today!

A little bit about me and my blog, I'm 26 and I'm a Pittsburgh girl (Go Pens!) and I'm on a journey to lose 100+ pounds. My blog covers the highs and lows of my journey and everything in between.

Today I thought I'd share a little something I've learned so far in my weight loss journey. Personally, I often feel like my weight holds me back in life. A lot of my fear is rooted in my lack of self-confidence. I worry about being pre-judged. But, it also seems hypocritical to a certain extent because I've done some pretty amazing/gutsy things so far in my life!

For example, I thought I'd share my shark encounter with you all. True story! I have witnesses!

It all happened when I was living in Australia. I had always wanted to go to Australia. For my Junior year of college I packed up and moved to Sydney without knowing anyone. I had an amazing time there and made some great friends. While there, I traveled as much as I could to see as much of the country in the time I was there. One of my favorite trips was to Cairns, Queensland. There I got to hold a Koala.

Awesome! And I also got to go out on the Great Barrier Reef.

Yes, this fat girl put on a skin tight stinger suit to go snorkeling on the reef. Why? Because in my mind it was a once in a lifetime experience and I couldn't go to Australia without going out on the reef. So I didn't care what everyone thought, I was going to go find Nemo!

I put the suit on and I'm an experienced swimmer so I went out pretty far from our boat. I was happily swimming along with Dory's "just keep swimming" playing in my head...

And then I heard my name being screamed. I was actually a little annoyed that they were bothering me and thought they just wanted to leave already, so I pulled my head out of the water and shouted back, "what!?" My poor friend look terrified and all she could get out was "shark!" and she pointed. So I put my head back down in the water to look and guess what, she was right. I literally felt paralyzed in that moment. My heart dropped into my stomach. In my mind, I was trying to think about what I've learned form Shard Week, which in the moment wasn't too much!

Hopeless, I was about 100 yards from the boat in open water. The shark just swam up right to me. It literally swam up next to me and slid itself along the length of my body. Creepy. I know! But then it just went on its own way.

It was a strange experience and one I hope never to repeat, I wouldn't want to press my luck! But it was an awesome day and I did find Nemo. I even have the picture to prove it!

Ok, so you are probably thinking "what was the point of this story?" Well, if I had let my weight hold me back that day I would have missed that amazing day on the reef. Going to the reef may have been a once in a lifetime experience, but everyday really is an opportunity for a once in a lifetime experience. You never know what can happen unless you try and if you never put yourself out there you'll never have any crazy stories to share!

Whether you have 10 lbs or 150 lbs to lose, I hope you stop by my blog and together we can motivate each other and finally lose this weight and never let our weight hold us back again. We can do this!

Thanks for reading!
